Native Plants 101 & Native Plant Projects Workshop
Join the Cannon River Watershed Joint Powers Organization (CRWJPO) at their Native Plant 101 & Native Plant Projects Workshop on Saturday, March 8th, 2025, in the Rice Count Extension Building at the Rice County Fairgrounds from 8 am – 12 pm. From 8 am – 9:30 am, we will discuss the Native Plants portion, and from 10 am – 12 pm, we will cover the Project and Design portion of the workshop. Feel free to attend one or both parts of this workshop! Just make note of it when you RSVP. The RSVP deadline is March 5th.
At this workshop, we will highlight some Minnesota native plants and discuss their benefits, limitations, identifying factors and ecological background information. There will also be some preserved native species present at the workshop to help visualize what these plants look like in person. Different types of native plant projects will also be introduced at this workshop. We will go over some of these projects, along with where or how to start them. There are also cost-share opportunities available for Native Shoreline Plantings in the Cannon River Watershed, through the CRWJPO. If interested in applying for that cost-share, staff will be present to help with the application process.
